Who I am – A friend of Karl and Jan’s, WOM/ACIM devotee, and an employee of Shanti Christo Foundation.

Who (or what) I’m raising money for – Karl Kamper’s medical expenses and basic living expenses while recovering from major open-heart surgery.

How the money will be used – Out-of-pocket expenses for prescriptions, home health equipment, medical bills, medical insurance co-payments, basic living expenses (rent, food, utilities, etc.)

How soon funds are needed – Now, ASAP.

Why this means so much to me – Karl and Jan have made a huge difference in my life as well as the lives of many; I believe that they are both integral to the Awakening.  They have given so much Love, joy, time, effort and energy to all of us - we have an opportunity to return Love and gratitude through our support.  I have this image in my mind of the ending scene of the film It’s a Wonderful Life. :)

Dear Friend,

As a student of The Way of Mastery and A Course of Miracles, I can testify how important Jeshua’s messages have been in changing my life for the good.  However, I would not have assimilated the material as well without the amazing teaching of our group leaders, Karl and Jan, both of whom seem to channel Holy Spirit beautifully to provide the most appropriate guidance at the perfect time.   By facilitating class meetings for over 25 years, they have brought together a wonderful, joyful community of loving brothers and sisters - and we are all part of that!

In addition to teaching, Karl and Jan have demonstrated their commitment to assisting Jeshua awaken the planet by serving as volunteer leaders of the Shanti Christo Foundation (publisher of The Way of Mastery).  As a part-time employee of SCF for the last three years, I have observed Karl and Jan behind the scenes as active members of the SCF board of directors.  They have both worked tirelessly (sometimes volunteering 40+ hours a week) and selflessly on behalf of SCF without any financial compensation. It took tremendous time and energy to move the office from Ashland, Oregon to Sacramento three years ago; since then, Karl (as board president) has successfully led SCF through numerous challenges by listening to Holy Spirit and requesting that the board and staff do the same.

Surely, Karl and Jan have been integral to the success of SCF and to the awakening of many souls through their teaching and leadership.  It is with sincere concern for their well-being and the future of our awakening that I bring the following to your attention:

As some of you know, Karl has been going through some major health challenges. As Jan explained in a recent email, this is why class has been cancelled. According to Jan, symptoms were present for months while Karl suffered in silence, even as he continued to fulfill Jeshua’s assignments such as putting on healing intensives this past summer. Meanwhile, his medical doctors could not determine the cause. Just before Thanksgiving, Karl’s health reached a crisis point; finally, he received an accurate diagnosis and underwent major open-heart surgery.  He spent several intensive weeks in the hospital, was released home this past week, and now has begun the work towards recovery.  Throughout, Jan has been a constant and devoted companion, caregiver, and advocate.

In the wake of this health crisis, Karl and Jan have been left with a precarious financial situation.  Between the mountain of non-insured medical bills that keep flowing in, and their inability to work to sustain their normal living expenses, they could truly use our help.  As you might know, both of them are self-employed; they are not covered under a disability plan.  Karl is not able to work at this time; an estimated recovery time is undetermined, but it may take months. In order to care for Karl, Jan cancelled most of her usual holiday catering schedule.  For Jan, November and December are the busiest months of the year for catering, so passing on jobs at this time represents a significant portion of her income.  They have limited medical insurance coverage, and prescriptions are not covered at all until January 1st, so required (and expensive) prescriptions are out-of-pocket.

While Karl and Jan have given us all their Love, time, energy and the fruit of their talents for many years, we now have an opportunity for us to give back to them.  Jeshua explains,  

            Giving and receiving are one.  For either case, the heart must be open, the defenses must be laid aside and the soul becomes wholly vulnerable. (WOM, p. 367)

I ask that if so motivated through your heart, that you join me in this expression of Love and appreciation for Karl and Jan by supporting them at this time.  I know they would be extremely thankful for our help.
