Our mom, Karen, is facing the fight of her life. Diagnosed with stage 4 bile duct cancer, her prognosis is difficult, but if you know Karen, you know she doesn’t give up easily. She’s a woman who has always given everything to her family and friends, and now, as she faces this battle, we’re coming together to give back to the woman who’s always been our foundation, our rock, and our biggest supporter.

Karen’s journey has been filled with hard decisions. She initially turned to a holistic path inspired by the Chris Beats Cancer program, seeking an approach that would nurture her entire being—mind, body, and spirit. However, with the clock ticking, she decided to begin chemotherapy to buy some time, even though it’s not the long-term answer she wants. Through extensive research, we discovered an incredible holistic treatment center right here in Charleston called Deeper Healing. They specialize in personalized treatments that offer hope for real, deep healing, addressing the root causes in ways traditional options can’t. Unfortunately, these treatments aren’t covered by insurance, and the financial burden is significant. But we know Karen deserves every possible chance.

Growing up, we didn’t have much, but Mom always created magic in our lives. Every Christmas, she would fill our home with wonder, giving us memories that still mean the world to us. And that’s just who she is: endlessly giving, always loyal, and fiercely devoted. Watching her face this disease has been one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do, and knowing how much she still dreams of—traveling, spending time with her family, even simple joys like watching her grand babies graduate—fills us with both hope and heartache.

Each of us shares a unique bond with her. She’s been our best friend, our guiding light, our source of strength through the toughest times. And now, as she faces her most difficult journey, we want to be there for her in every way we can. We’re grieving the time we’re losing, trying to make every moment count, and preparing ourselves for the possibility that this might be our last Thanksgiving or Christmas together. But together, we’re holding onto hope.

Karen's message:

Hello, beautiful souls. My name is Karen, and reaching out for help is something I rarely do. I've always been the one to give, whether it’s offering a helping hand or a listening ear. But life has taken me on a journey this past year, one that has challenged me in ways I never imagined.

Earlier this year, I was hospitalized due to acute pancreatitis following a bile duct stent placement. What started as a routine procedure opened up a path of unexpected hardships and discoveries. I faced repeated hospital visits, unbearable pain, and eventually a diagnosis that shook my world – stage 3-4 bile duct cancer, also known as cholangiocarcinoma.

I underwent surgery, and while there was hope of removing the tumor, the doctors found it too entangled in my blood vessels to safely proceed. They stopped the operation, saving my life in the process, but leaving me with the reality that my condition was deemed inoperable and incurable. After seeing family members pass quickly due to chemotherapy, I vowed to pursue a natural path to healing. But being given a prognosis of six months without treatment changed my perspective, and I reluctantly started chemo. I hold onto faith, believing that this isn’t the end of my story.

Why I Need Your Help:

I've found a place called *Deeper Healing* in Charleston, SC, where I can pursue natural healing methods – diet, exercise, mental healing, grounding, and more – a path that resonates deeply with my heart. This approach offers me hope, a chance to heal from within, and to spend whatever time I have left creating beautiful memories with my loved ones. However, this treatment is not covered by insurance, and the expenses are significant.

The initial consultation alone is $500, and the complete program could cost upwards of $20,000. In addition, travel, food, and other medical-related costs have already placed a financial strain on my family. I would also love to take my family on one last special trip, a place we can all hold dear – something that would create memories they could cherish forever.

My Wish:

My greatest hope is to be there to see my 4-year-old grandson graduate high school. My faith, family, and friends have held me up in every step, and I truly believe that with God, healing is possible.
