Hi Everyone*,


My name is Amber Kain & I launched this campaign 18 days ago to raise money for my mother, Karen Perry, who is in need of support.  

 
Those who know my mother will know her as one of the hardest-working people one could ever meet. Well, she is also one of the most generous. Growing up, I never once saw my mother turn away any person who came to her for help. Karen has never hesitated to give of herself in whatever way she can from opening her home to those who had none, to offering her signature encouragement & spiritual counsel to literally giving someone the shirt off her back to keep them from freezing. Even at those times when Karen barely had enough for herself, she still managed to find a way to help those who had even less. As her one-time director Jason Alexander once told me, "Your mother's a genius. This woman can go to Macy's with $20 dollars & walk out with a king's wardrobe. She's a miracle worker."  Well, my mother is now in need of a minor miracle herself. 


The past winter was a tough one for my mother - she survived a serious car accident in the back of a taxi which left her with costly injuries, her savings was depleted by a family emergency (one which my mother did not hesitate to help out with) & a new stipulation was introduced into her guild contract, requiring Mom to sit out an entire season of work. In the past, Mom's expertise & her willingness to work hard has always enabled her to make her way even in tough times. But with her hands tied by this new situation, her spirit & courageous heart began to take a toll. I knew she would need extra love & support to get her through this one & I believe she deserves it. Hence, this fund. 

 

I, along with my mother's friends & fellow artists have rallied together to show my mother that she doesn't have to go this alone. Some of us understand hardship all too well & may even remember a time when Karen Perry was there to help us through our own.  By donating to this fund, you'll be helping my mother to return to work, secure her family home, receive physical therapy for her injuries & get back to where she belongs: standing on her own feet - able to give of herself again. 

 

I chose my mother's all-time favorite movie, "It's A Wonderful Life," to help show her that life is wonderful indeed when people care about you as much as I know so many people care about her.
