Mi Historia

Si hubieras conocido a Karen Moreno en el 2018, nunca te hubieras imaginado que algo así me pasaría. En el 2019, fui diagnosticada con cáncer de colon etapa 3. Tuve 12 sesiones de quimioterapia durante el 2020 y logré esquivar la pandemia de COVID al mismo tiempo.

¡Estuve casi 3 años en remisión! Hasta que ahora en junio 2023, luego de 3 meses enferma, llegue a la dolorosa conclusión que el cáncer había regresado. Esta vez, mucho más agresivo que antes. Esta vez, como un tumor en el recto que invade el cérvix. Incluso, ya no esta en la etapa 3, sino en etapa 4. Por ello, tengo una colostomía temporal que me permitirá tratar el tumor. ¡Aún estoy a tiempo de recibir quimioterapia y radiaciones, y voy a luchar con todo lo que puedo contra este cáncer!

Es por eso que necesito de tu ayuda para pagar el deducible de mi seguro durante el tiempo del tratamiento (los copagos y deducibles del seguro por hospitalización, cirugía y tratamiento). Como sabrás, el tratamiento es muy costoso y bastante largo - podría alargarse hasta el 2024.

My Story

If you would have met Karen Moreno back in 2018, you never would have imagined that something like this would have happened to me. In 2019, I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. I went through 12 chemotherapy sessions during 2020 – and managed to survive COVID at the same time.

Thankfully, my cancer went into remission for almost 3 years! That was, until 2023. After three months of feeling sick, I came to the painful conclusion that the cancer had come back. This time, much more aggressive than before. This time, as a tumor in the rectum that invades the cervix. It is no longer in stage 3 and has advanced to stage 4. For this reason, I have a temporary colostomy that will help me treat the tumor. I still have time to receive more chemotherapy and radiation and will fight with everything I have to beat this cancer!

It is for this reason that I need your help – I need to pay my insurance deductible during the time of the treatment (co-pays and insurance deductibles for hospitalization, surgery and treatment). As you may know, treatment is very costly and extensive – it could go as far as 2024.
