I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in February this year, fortunately I feel well and am responding to current treatment. I am keen to contribute to raising money for cancer research especially as I am benefiting from previous work. I also hope to help change some of the perceptions around what it means to live with this life changing diagnosis.
The 'Tour De 4' cycling challenge on Sunday 7th September, organised by Sir Chris Hoy, is an especially suitable one for my family and I. We have shared many cycle touring holidays together. My husband, Tom, four 'boys', John (27), Mark (25), Peter (22), and Robert (19) along with my brother Alan and nephew, Ben (22) are all taking part with me. The challenge is based in Glasgow and the Campsie Fells to the north. I have been training on my bike over the last few months and hope to complete the most challenging level of participation - 90 km (56 miles), 1000 m (3770 ft) ascent.
We made it! 90 km, 1,000m ascent in sometimes biblical rain through beautiful scenery with a fantastic atmosphere and bystander support along the way. So many thanks for all your contributions.
Please support me in raising money for Breast Cancer Now - your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a lot or a little. Anything helps. Thank you for your support.
