Hello everyone -My name is Taya Girard (mom) , & I am organizing this fundraiser for my son Kanin Evans. I'm carrying an unimaginable burden, as Kanin fights to heal. Anyway I can help him, I'm going to try.

On July 29th , 2025 . Kanins life was forever changed when he was in a serious devastating accident in his beloved jeep. He currently is in the SICU ( 3rd hospital) , under a drug induced coma, due to a severe traumatic brain injury. Which is the most critical factor in predicting his long term outcomes. Initially , it necessitated a shunt, due to heavy bleeding and swelling. It may be a lifelong condition that requires ongoing treatment . He currently is on ecmo to support his lungs after critical lung failure and has endured many challenges ; seizures , infection, surgery, & bleeding .While Kanin's stable condition is a positive sign, his full recovery is not certain giving the severity of his injuries. His mom is staying by his side around the clock until further notice and won't know more about recovery until they are safely able to wake him up & evaluate more. It is uncertain at this time how long Kanin will remain in the hospital. The past month & a half have been incredibly challenging emotionally, physically & financially. While there remains hope on Kanins healing. The road to recovery will be long, difficult, uncertain & full of challenges.

Kanin is a bright light in the lives of everyone who knows him. His charm, kindness, humor & warmth touch all who cross his path. He is deeply loved by family, and friends. The outpouring of support already shows just how many hearts he has impacted. Those that know him can testify on his generous heart, his warm smile & the way he's always willing to lend a helping hand. Now it's our turn to be there for him- to be his Light...

In addition to the emotional toll, the practical, & financial strain on the family has been immense. The critical care that Kanin requires means that his family is now on leave from their jobs. Their income will be impacted ,during the upcoming months, which includes the holidays. They also have endured multiple unplanned expenses , that has left them short for their other bills & daily living expenses .I am humbly asking for any support from our communities to help ease some of the hardships. The medical costs are overwhelming; 2 different air flights, ICU care- ecmo, dialysis, medication, catscan, X-rays, ongoing scans/treatment that requires help and eventually rehabilitation & specialized therapies. The family simply cannot face these expenses alone.
