Hi, I am the lucky owner of this beautiful Boxer Kallie. I would like to tell you a little about her. Kallie just turned 2 and shouldn't even be here. On her dams X-ray before delivery, there were five puppies and a small blob the vet thought would be a dead pup. When the pups were born that blob came out yelling! A beautiful mahogany plain brindle girl. And what a fighter she was!
she would try to nurse and then it would come out her mouth. Vet says she has an immature esophagus so she was bottle fed every two hours. She loved cuddling up after and sleeping in your arms. She slowly gained and once she was old enough she started mush. That is when she took off, between the esophagus maturing and the food she did really well. She was also my shadow by then.
At eight weeks it was vet check time, shots and microchips. She had a murmur. When the canine cardiologist came down we had an auscultation done. Grade 2 possibly a three was the rating. This wasn't good.
Meanwhile she had started scratching a lot. We have no fleas here. We have lived here for 12 years and never had any so I knew something else was up. Back to the vet we go. He did scrapings and other tests and all came back clear. So now we test for allergies and sure enough that is what she had. Not one or two but 19 different allergies! Grasses, pollens, ragweeds, goldenrods so many plants, trees, dust mites and oddly enough, the spongy stuff in pillows! So she gets allergy medicine every day now. My vet feels she has a comprised immune system and that is why she is getting all these problems.
Next during a checkup my vet noticed her eyes were foggy. She now has cataracts, one eye worse than the other. Surgery can correct it but at 5000$ an eye it is beyond our means. We are retired. So even if we can get enough funds to do just one eye it would save her from going completely blind.
She is only two and one of the sweetest, smartest and most affectionate boxers you would ever meet. She is my baby girl, my shadow and I love her dearly. I had her spayed early as I didn't want her going through all that blind as the cataracts came on quickly and may grow quickly .
If it is possible please help save this beautiful girl from blindness. If you know boxers you know how they love to run and play and jump, all of which would be almost impossible for her.
Any amount no matter how small can add up.
Thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart for your help.
Bonnie
