Building a shelter for all the dogs and cats at KWWSPCA
Hiya! My name is Grace O’Shaughnessy and I will attempt to run my first ultramarathon on November 16th 2024 in order to help raise funds for an urgently needed new shelter for the KWWSPCA (Kildare & West Wicklow Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). I’ll be running the Western Yards Backyard Ultra in Kilcornan Woods, Galway held by the Galway Trail Running AC.
Most people reading this will agree that there is nothing better than the loyalty and unconditional love of a dog and that’s why it is such an honour to be able to care for all the fabulous dogs at the KWWSPCA who deserve so much more than the reason they landed in the shelter. Unfortunately, the landlord is selling the premises in February of 2025 after 10 years, and we are currently trying to find a new place to allow the dogs to reside while we await the build of a new shelter. Additionally, the sooner we have the funds for the build, the quicker the process can begin. As a volunteer for the KWWSPCA in the dog section, I am biased to all the pups however, we must not forget the gorgeous and cute cats and kittens who will benefit from this fundraiser just as much. If you can’t donate right now, there is always many other ways you can help out including fostering, volunteering at the Noah’s Ark shop (all sales go to the charity) or the shelter in either the dog section or the cat section, or donating old toys and beds for the dogs and cats that you no longer have use for. Everything is hugely appreciated by all the dogs and kitties no matter how big or small ☀️
If I could attach more photos of all the dogs I would but unfortunately I can only attach one so I chose the wonderful Piper. Piper is a young adult male lurcher who would adore if someone would be his companion for the rest of his life. A friendly, loving and bouncy boy who is certainly not shy of giving kisses as you can see! He is one of the shelter’s longest residents and we don’t know why because he’s just so fabulous! He has most of the volunteers wrapped around his paw and if I could take him home I would (don’t worry Dad, no surprises!) And for all you non-morning people, Piper loves to lie in and snooze for an extra 45 minutes later than all the other dogs. Find out more information on https://kwwspca.ie/adopt-a-dog/piper/
The money raised from this event will contribute to the large costs of building a brand new shelter with all the appropriate and necessary equipment.
Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Kildare and West Wicklow Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Ltd (KWWSPCA) and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
