KSS’s Thematic Science Melas 2024 – 25

The Lahore Science Mela (LSM) is an annual citizen science festival organized by the Khwarizmi Science Society. To date, KSS has organized five Lahore Science Melas (2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023) in which more than 200,000 students, volunteers, exhibitors, performers, scientists, and laypersons have participated. The festivals are open-to-all and utterly free of cost and have become the most prominent citizen science festival of Pakistan.

Mela has global reach with collaborations spanning from CERN (Switzerland), Isfahan Mathematics House (Iran), Biorobotics Institute (Italy) and talks by Dr Paul Davies, Dr. Nidhal Guessoum, Prof. Bilge, METU (Turkey) and the History of Science Museum, University of Oxford.

Lahore Science Mela 2023, the fifth installment of this grand event held on 28th and 29th October 2023 at Crescent Model Higher Secondary School, Shadman, Lahore (Boys Campus). Lahore Science Mela 2023 welcomed over 100,000 visitors over two days and featured:

KSS’s Thematic Science Melas 2024 – 2025
KSS has introduced Thematic Science Melas (TSM), an evolution of KSS’s annual citizen science festivals Lahore Science Melas (LSM), to explore specific scientific realms in a deeper way. Schedule is as follows:

1- Lahore Hayatiyati Mela (LHM) (hayatati=life) – 26th and 27th October 2024
2- Lahore Falakiyati Mela (falakyati=skies and space) – February 2025

Help us organise the Lahore Hayatiyati Mela (LHM) and Lahore Falakiyati Mela (LFM) and contribute to a brighter future for all.

  • Provide support for students and teachers from remote cities and areas of Pakistan, enabling them to participate in the festival.
  • Award scholarships to talented young girls and boys in STEM fields, encouraging them to become the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers.
  • Establish a large central KSS Surpriseum at the festival, featuring hundreds of captivating science experiments and performances for visitors of all ages.
  • Enhance the international presence at the festival, bringing together experts and enthusiasts from around the world to share their knowledge and experiences.

In 2023, around 1 Million PKR were dedicated to support travel expenses of some of the Mela Participants including out-of-school-children (OOSC) from TAKMIL, orphanages, and other under-represented schools.
