Across the country, funding for Public, Educational, and Government (PEG) access television has steadily declined, placing community media organizations under increasing financial pressure. Today, KOCT faces that same challenge. As funding continues to decrease, so does the ability to preserve local history, provide transparent access to government meetings, and create educational programming that serves our community.

KOCT has produced and broadcast programming that informs, educates, and connects North County. Through our work, we document City Council meetings, public events, nonprofit initiatives, educational programming, military ceremonies, and the stories that shape Oceanside's history. We also program the community television channels that provide residents with access to local programming, public meetings, and important civic information.

Beyond broadcasting, KOCT is committed to developing the next generation of media professionals. Students, interns, and volunteers receive hands-on experience using professional-grade equipment while learning live production, editing, storytelling, broadcasting, and the digital skills needed to create content for today's media landscape. These opportunities prepare future professionals while strengthening the voices of our community.
