KASC 2018

I've never had aspirations of becoming a firefighter or astronaut as a child; instead, I saw myself as the next pioneer enamored with the idea of changing the world. Thus, in order to be an agent of positive change, for the past several years, I have volunteered with local youth in various mentoring positions. I was able to teach them to develop their people skills, to understand their potential as future students, and most importantly, to see themselves and how they fit into their local community as well as the global community. However, in doing so, I learned from them that my education was not complete.

One of my passions is being able to help out socioeconomically disadvantaged youth in my community and provide them with a greater scope outside of what they see every day. I want to give them the tools to find their passions in life and be successful in a global society.

On March 5th, 2018, I was selected to represent the United States at the upcoming 2018 Korea-America Student Conference (KASC); an opportunity to further build on this foundation. Over the span of three weeks (July 20th – August 10th), I will be traveling with 35 students from both South Korea and the United States to South Korea. We will participate in roundtable discussions pertinent to maintaining the good faith relations between both nations.

The goal of these roundtables will be to open dialogue about bilateral global issues such as energy and environment, international relations, business in the era of global economy, and examining the interplay between media, culture, and society. In the end, we will devise working solutions and implement plans for moving forward.

These open dialogues will allow me to continue being a motivator for change. With a much broader critical lens, I can continue helping to shape the minds of the next generation who will become leaders. However, in order to attend KASC, I need your help. My goal is to raise $6,000 which will cover airfare, lodging, and food. I have included a more detailed budget below. Of course, I cannot ask for your help if I myself cannot do the same.

To date, I currently work two part-time jobs and am diligently putting a portion of each paycheck into a dedicated account. Nonetheless, my efforts to fund this opportunity on my own will not be sufficient by the conference date. Your financial assistance and support will help me achieve the goal of participating in KASC 2018. Your donation will make a difference in my life so that I will make a difference in the lives of others. Please help me be successful in this process by making a donation. Any amount will be appreciated in helping me reach my goal. Thank you for your generosity!
