Justin's PDX Newman Volunteer Fund

Hi Everyone!

My Name is Justin Waldron. I am 22 years old and from the Portland Metro area. This year I will be graduating from Washington State University Vancouver with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  Unlike most college graduates who usually jump into the world of work and jobs right after school, I am going to give my year of post college life to volunteering! I feel that since I have been so blessed being brought up in a God centered family all my years; it is time to give back and share Jesus with others!

When most people call to mind volunteering they think of giving time to help out an organization.  I will be volunteering full time for the Oregon State University Newman Center Catholic Ministry. For those of you who are not familiar with state school Newman Centers, they provide Catholic campus outreach to students attending school. My main purpose at OSU Newman Center will be missionary work on campus by helping students find Christ. This past year I have spent a large amount of time helping with both high school and college youth find Christ. It has been such a wonderful, fulfilling, and joyful experience! I look forward to being able to dedicate all of my time to the New Evangelization and bringing students to a personal relationship with Christ!  I will be spending the majority of my time on Oregon State University Campus itself speaking and interacting with students. I will also play a large role in helping with the different activities and programs that the Newman Center puts on for all interested students. An example of this is the semester long course known as Fragua. This weekly coarse that the Newman center puts on is for Christians, non-believers, Catholics, and anyone interested in seeing the truth and joy that Jesus has to offer them. It is an into class that explores the reasons for believing in God, and the purpose of our life here on earth.  Along with this course there are other programs, bible studies, retreats, game nights and community events that I will help out with all year round.
I will be staying at the house right next to the OSU Newman center. Although the housing is covered for the year, I don’t have a way to pay for my food, insurance and other monthly bills. It is part of the volunteering experience to give completely to others without receiving anything except the joy of giving in return. I will be helping out as a volunteer full time, and thus will not be capable of working to make money for these other costs.  I ask for your help in raising these funds to help pay for these other living necessities needed. Every penny will go towards living expenses! If anything is left over it will go towards the Catholic Campus ministries and outreach programs for the students.

Here is a video of some of the different things the Newman Center at OSU provides for students:

In helping me pay for these expenses you are helping to spread the word of God to the future generation! You are helping bring college youth closer to God! Our world today needs more than ever people on fire with the love and zeal for God! This year of volunteering is my way of living my Faith and sharing it with others! I look forward to this coming year to bring Christ to students and in doing so grow in love and holiness for Him! Help me bring Jesus to all of the students thirsting for a deeper meaning of life and the truth on the Oregon State University Campus!

Thank you for all of your help in supporting me! In exchange for any amount of donations given, I will offer a rosary up for your intentions!

Thank you and God Bless!
