I GOT ACCEPTED TO MY MASTER'S PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON!!
Classes start June 1st..

My GOAL
- To raise a minimum of $1500 to offset relocation expenses of moving from DC to The University of Houston.


My Story:
-  I've known Athletic Training was my passion since my senior year in College. After graduating with a degree in Sports Medicine in 2012, I started applying to Masters programs. In December of 2012 I suffered a football injury which almost cost me a finger and the strength in my right hand. As a former NCAA athlete, my goal was once to play in the NFL. After the injury, I had to choose whether to follow my dream at the potential risk of my medical career.

I shifted my focus and adapated a new goal:  I will attain a board certification to become a head NFL athletic trainer. I would still be near the sport I love and within the NFL.  In Texas, football has a cult-like following. My ultimate goal is to attain a Doctorate of Physical Therapy and own my own Sports Medicine clinic. 


Why THE BIG DEAL?
- To be accepted is a monumental occasion: 
I have applied to Maters programs for THREE YEARS. At one school,  I traveled 6 hours and stayed on a friends couch to sit outside the directors office, all to be told not to "even bother." I recorded videos and sent brochures of myself, but with no result.

I have now been given a chance by the University of Houston, one of the Top Tier One Research Institutions in the country, home to NASA (Houston) and the largest medical center in the country. 

At UofH I will be a part of only the second cohort, and in many ways, we will all still be an experiment for my preceptors (instructors). The program has fulltime clinicals and coursework through Summer, Spring and Fall for the duration of the two year program. The result: I wont be working for the next two years and living ENTIRELY off loans. 

*******At one point my family struggled to find a place to live. I don't have a toy from childhood or a single friend of over 10 yrs because I  arose  from  bleek  circumstances.  I never visted a college, but got off a Greyhound in DC and walked to Howard University. I have refused to be denied, and I refuse to fail now when I have come so close. ********


How CAN YOU HELP??
For now, I'm focused on step one - GETTING THERE. I received  my acceptance less than a month ago, and am now in scramble phase. I've got to: 

a. SELL, DONATE or SHIP everything I own
b. FIND A PLACE TO LIVE in a city I've never been  
c. BUY A CAR,
d. And figure out HOW THE HELL I'M GOING TO GET DOWN THERE.

I'm going to focus my fundraising efforts on getting there. I'm confident that if I can just get to the city, I can find the loans I need to purchase a decent vehicle and pay entry fees and security on an apt..

Or

UHAUL & Gas
Uhaul  = $1200
+ Gas  = $213
               =($1413)

Either way, the amount is about the same.

Friends, Family, Loved ones, your support has gotten me this far. Please, whatever you have left help me take this last giant leap to start my new life, and learn how to treat other's through medicine.
