After a few months of at-home training with Emma Tabei from Professional K9s, I sent both my puppies, Leia and Rey, away to board-and-train with her at her facility. On April 19, at the conclusion of our weekly training session at my home, Ms. Tabei picked up both of my dogs and took them with her to board-and-train.

On Tuesday, May 23, I received a call from Ms. Tabei. She informed me that, after 34 days of board-and-training, one of my dogs had passed away. I called the veterinary clinic where she took the body of my dog and asked them to perform a necropsy. The vet told me that it was one of the most severe cases of dehydration that he had ever seen. He stated that she showed every single sign of heat exhaustion and that the pads of her feet where completely blistered off, and that this had occurred within the last week. The report goes into detail about the severity of my puppy’s state of dehydration when she passed. This woman abandoned my dog for days if not longer. No shelter from the sun, no food and no water. As my dog laid dying, vomiting and soiling herself, this woman refused to render aid.

Mounting this campaign in the name of my sweet puppy Leia against her tormenters at Professional K9s has been taxing, both emotionally and financially. Website development costs, hosting expenses, as well as civil litigation costs have proven substantial. We see this as our burden to carry, not just in memory of my baby, but as a responsibility to do everything in our power to make sure that she does not have the chance to harm another animal. This company has operated with impunity for far too long. We see it as our mission to shut down Professional K9s and make sure that the owner is forbidden from working with animals ever again. Our next step is putting up billboards warning others of the danger of this organization, but doing so requires funding.

If you can help in any way, big or small, and feel moved to do so, then please visit our GoFundMe page. Any donations received will be used to cover the above-mentioned costs. Any excess funds received will be donated to ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
