Update- December 22, 2024
On December 3rd, at 3:04AM, my wife and best friend, Kelli Anne Wilson, died in my arms in a hospital bed in St. Joseph's hospital.
I am seeking donations to help with autopsy, cremation, and memorial services for her. Our failed travesty of a medical system failed her one too many times and ended her life far too early in a way that can only be described as cruel and inhuman. I witnessed it firsthand as they took piece after piece of her, leaving her weakened, wounded, and ultimately abandoned by those entrusted to ensure her health and safety. I will never be the same after seeing what I witnessed. And I know that what I witnessed was WRONG...
CRIMINALLY WRONG.
So I'm begging you to please help me get an autopsy for my wife so that I can prove that in court. Without an autopsy, there is virtually no chance that my wife will ever get justice for the horrific failures that led to her early horrific death.
Moments before she expelled her last breath, I told her that I would get justice for her.
Please help me do that, if you can.
Dear friends and compassionate community members,
For the past four years, my wife Kelli and I have been fighting an uphill battle against serious medical issues. Kelli was diagnosed with stomach cancer, which has required multiple emergency surgeries and even left her on life support for five days. Meanwhile, I have been struggling with severe arrhythmia and atrial flutter, which also required surgical repair. This journey has taken a tremendous toll on us both emotionally and financially.
Despite our best efforts to manage these challenges, our situation has become dire. We’ve exhausted all of our savings and have been selling possessions and borrowing from family and friends to meet basic needs. Over the course of this journey, we’ve had over a hundred doctor appointments and countless labs, scans, and procedures. I’ve been unable to work for nearly four years and rely solely on partial disability from the VA as a Gulf War veteran. Kelli’s job as a county employee disqualifies her for disability benefits, and she has missed many months of work due to her illness. Our income has been drastically reduced, and we are at the end of our financial rope.
Right now, Kelli has an urgent insurance payment of $4,000 due in just nine days. If we can’t make this payment, she will lose her insurance coverage and the dedicated treatment team at the hospital where she’s been recovering for the past ten weeks. This would be a devastating setback to her recovery.
Reaching our fundraising goal would give us some much-needed breathing room. It would help cover Kelli’s medical expenses, allow us to get caught up on rent and overdue bills, and give us the time to find alternative sources of income that can sustain us in this new medical reality.
Asking for help is not easy for us. Kelli and I are both fiercely independent people who have always worked hard to support ourselves. We’ve spent over 30 years serving our community, primarily helping teens and young adults struggling with substance use disorders. Now, we find ourselves on the other side, needing support from the community we’ve devoted our lives to.
We are deeply grateful to anyone who can help us during this challenging time. Your kindness will not only provide us with financial relief but also with hope and encouragement to keep fighting.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can offer. Every donation, share, and word of encouragement means the world to us.
With gratitude and hope,
Don Boss
