Justice for Jacob Alter

Donation protected
We are appealing the excessive, punitive long-term expulsion of our son, Jacob Alter who is a Senior at McIntosh High School for the remainder of the 2016-2017 academic year by the Fayette County Board of Education Tribunal Panel.

Many of you already know the circumstances surrounding Jacob's suspension and subsequent expulsion and we deeply appreciate your support. While his father and I do not encourage nor condone the kids behavior, neither do we deny his personal responsibility for his actions under the idea of "kids will be kids". That being said, we are intelligent enough to recognize and accept this is 2016, kids are exploring their sexuaility as normal and as expected, and without valid phsical evidence the degree of discipline handed down is unacceptable.

Jacob has NO PREVIOUS DISCIPLINE ISSUES. None, ever.  He is extremely bright and intelligent as reflected by his academics and standardized scores.  Jacob is respected by his peers, a quiet but cheerful leader and friend to all who know him and an asset to the McIntosh family. Jacob is college bound.  Now his academic and social future hangs in the balance and we have vowed to do whatever we can to ensure he is restored to his path towards success.

Jacob asked me today, "Why mom? Why is she doing this? Did they pick me to make an example?"  Holding my child close, we sat and cried together until we could cry no more, but I could not give him an answer, for I have none.

It is our sincerest prayer that Jacob is reinstated to McIntosh High School to continue on his current path of successful completion of his senior year, graduation/commencement and acceptance to the university of his choosing.  We strongly believe he has a bright future as a contributing member of society.  As one person wrote of him in one of many wonderful letters of character reference, "Jacob believes in leaving a place better than he found it, even when he thinks no one is watching".   We believe if reinstated Jacob will leave McIntosh High School and it's student body better than he found it and hopefully a successful appeal for one of Mcntosh High School's most valued students can begin the process of healing the relationships between our students, families and administration.

Please know that we are deeply appreciative
for any and all donations to be used to assist with our legal fees and expenses as we appeal the decision with FCBOE, and welcome you to contact us directly should you have any questions.

Kindest and most sincere thanks to all for your support.
