The team at Jump Zone has decided to embark on a charity fundraiser for our good friends at Open Spectrum. The event will involve running/walking the equivalent of the circumference of Ireland (approx. 3,000km) over 14 days (15th-29th May) which we see as an excellent and really worthwhile way of spending our time during the enforced lay off.
Open Spectrum was founded in 2013 by two parents Victoria White and Helen Norris. It was set up to run and support sporting activities for children with autism. The very first activity was with Jump Zone which allows children, regardless of their ability, to exercise which is so important. Open Spectrum now run yoga, karate, kayak camp, surf camp, bowling, athletics, wall climbing, golf and are currently considering sailing, with hundreds of members and many parents involved on the committee. Open Spectrum is part funded by DLR (Dunlaoire Rathdown) and DCC (Dublin City Council) and has recently become Open Spectrum CLG (Company limited by guarantee) in preparation for a charity status application. It is so important that the children are part of our community, on a field, in a boat and yes on a trampoline ! They are precious wonderful children and they are working so hard every day to do the things we take for granted.
