Julian Hyde's Road To Rabat!

Donation protected
Friends, family, coaches and the Equestrian Federation of Jamaica (EFJ) is graciously asking for your much-needed assistance in helping one of our most beloved riders, Mr. Julian Hyde, reach the highest level of his professional career thus far. Julian has qualified for the F.E.I. World Jumping Challenge Final in Rabat, Morocco from April 22th – 24th 2016.  There he will be representing Jamaica against 20 riders from 17 different countries all over the world.

We could not be more proud of his accomplishments, but even more so for his unfailing dedication to both his sport, his country and its people.

Below are just a few of his accomplishments in 2015:

·       F.E.I Category ‘A’ World Jumping Challenge – (Kingston, Jamaica) 1st Place – qualified for Final in Morocco

·       Invited to compete in F.E.I. World China Jumping League in Beijing

·       Awarded RJR Sportsman of the Year Award for Equestrian Sports

·       Completed F.E.I. ‘Level 2’ Coaches Course – Certified

Despite his talent, successes and hardships as a rider, he has remained true to his roots, and is now giving back to his community by coaching young Jamaicans at all levels of the sport.

Julian is the epitome of a humble country ‘yute’ with a heart as good as gold. We cannot think or dream of a better candidate to be representing our country at this event. Please join us in having a part in his demonstration that though ‘wi likkle, wi tallawah.’

Though the competition is over the course of two days, Julian and his coach, Betty Wates will be expected to stay a week in order to find a suitable horse for the competition and have enough time to train. We suspect that the cost of sending both Julian and Mrs. Wates to the competition will be approximately, $10,000 USD. Airfare for both travellers will be approximately, $3000 USD each.  Accommodation, transportation and food for the five days while in Morocco will cost another $2,000 USD.

We would like to thank everyone in advance for their donations. Any amount is welcome. Whether you give $1 or $1000, we appreciate every penny.

A Little More About Julian

Inspired by his late mother, Julian started riding at 8 yrs. old under the tutelage of one of Jamaica's most respected equestrian figures, Betty Wates.

Throughout his life, despite his hardships and struggles, horses have remained his constant. He has trained and mentored countless horses, each one with a different personality. His natural ability with these animals is evident from the moment he puts his feet in the stirrups and his hands on the reigns.

At 28 years old he is currently the youngest male F.E.I. Level 2 coach in the Caribbean and has mastered several equestrian sport disciplines. From show jumping, dressage, cross country and polo. If it involves a horse, Julian has tried it.

Julian and his wife Anneka reside between Los Angeles, California and their home country, Jamaica.

He is currently living in Linstead, Jamaica where he trains and coaches young riders at Ponderosa Farm & Equestrian Center  in Bog Walk, Jamaica. He welcomes visitors and riders with open arms, so please feel free to stop by at any time.
