At just 23 years old, my daughter in law, Julia Partridge, was recently diagnosed with metaplastic, triple negative breast cancer. It is a very rare and aggressive type of cancer which requires stages of chemo, immunotherapy, radiation, and ovarian suppressants (to prevent sterilization), as well as surgery. She was seen at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for diagnosis and treatment recommendations, and will receive her ongoing treatment at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. Julia's oncologist has told her to expect to be on a medical leave for a year while she receives treatment.
