Judy's Trip to Nairobi
Donation protected
I look back and wonder how many letters of support requests I have responded to over the years, never thinking I would write one of my own, and now ... here I am!
I have been invited by Build a Bridge International (buildabridge.org) to travel to the Mathare Valley, one of the oldest and worst slums in Nairobi. I will be part of a team of artists asked to "train local community and youth caregivers in the arts to deliver holistic approaches to trauma well-being through children's programming.”
My specific assignment will be working with the disabled. Dance has been the language of my heart for my entire lifetime, and I am so excited to translate aspects of the performing arts and therapeutic movement into the lives of the disabled in areas where beauty and creativity have been strangled and muzzled by poverty and trauma.
We are scheduled to leave July 31, 2016! Please come alongside me! Thank you so very much!
