In Memory Of Juanita Caudle

On March 21, 2017 our entire lives changed. What seemed like a normal morning started a week of confusion, memory loss, headaches and sadness. She was set for retirement on June 26, so I assumed she was having "senior-itis" and was getting to the end of her job phase.

After a week of these symptoms, I took my mother to the ER, where they initially diagnosed her with a Urinary Tract Infection. But a few moments later they noticed she was having some severe memory loss. 30 minutes later we heard the words that would forever change our lives at 3am. "Brain Tumor".

Long story short, my mother never stood a chance with this disease and she never got the chance to fight it. No symptoms prior to this and no signs of something so large and inoperable. After numerous test within a few hours, she was diagnosed with a Grade 4 Glioblastoma brain tumor. She completed a month of Radiation and then a short lived trial of chemo which put her back in the hospital.

On May 30, 2017 we decided to opt out of treatment because there was no cure. No hope of shrinking or destroying this monster. While her body was starting to get stronger and her MRI was showing neutral with no changes, we had convinced ourselves that we atleast had a few months, hopefully years with my beautiful mother.

Sadly, on June 5, a week after this decision, what started off as a great day ended tragically.

My mother showed so many signs of improvement. She got out of bed on her own for the first time in 2 months!!! She did physical therapy perfectly without getting winded, she rested and she laughed. She loved her granddaughter and grandson, she ate chocolate and joked about life.
At 7pm our entire world changed...she ate dinner with her family then got up to go the bathroom. She called for me to help her find some clean clothes as she moved her way to the edge of her bed. As I walked into the room immediately I reached for clean clothes, then the panic ensued. She mumbled some words which are driving me to crazy to know what they were.... Her body fell backwards into a narcoleptic seizure type fit. She gasped for air a few times , and within seconds she was gone.
A perfectly normal day stripped from us with tragedy right in our hands.

Now all of the financial planning and "to-do" list that I was supposed to do with my mother this week was cut short. Which has us in a worry about some financial matters.
Her medical bills are coming in and our everyday bills just never stop, as any adult knows.
I never ask for things, but at this point, anything helps.
Even if its just a prayer or the positive juju dance.
We are surrounded by so much love and we thank and appreciate everyone who has reached out to us.

Thank you so much.
Karma will find you and she will be beautiful. ✌
