Juan Carlos' Medical Expenses
Donation protected
As long as I can remember, every time we arrived at Costa Sur, Juan Carlos was there at the steps to greet us with a big smile. He would open the car door and then help with all of the luggage. He was the first face we would see upon arriving and the last when leaving.
Juan Carlos is in kidney failure. Apparently, a transplant is not an option for him so he has to be put on kidney dialysis. The hospitals and public clinics available through his public medical insurance provided by law by CS are worse than the worst county hospital you can imagine in the US. He is forced to pay out-of-pocket for private doctors, hospitals and clinics if he wants to stay alive.
A few weeks ago he underwent surgery for the placement of his peritoneal dialysis catheter. He later suffered from an infection that currently seems to be under control, so he should be starting dialysis soon. His disability payments are around 1,000 pesos (about $50 USD) twice a month.
At the request of all of the incredibly generous owners of Costa Sur, I have created this site to facilitate donations to Juan Carlos. We need to raise funds for his ongoing medical care, help at home, transportation and basic needs. He is currently living in El Tuito, alone. He has hired someone to help with bandage changes along with some light housework. Due to the transportation issues involved in traveling from El Tuito to PV, it is possible he will have to relocate either to PV or Guadalajara where he can be closer to a dialysis clinic.
Juan Carlos will need dialysis for the rest life. My goal is to create a fund that will sustain the costs of his ongoing medical treatments as well as a monthly allowance to replace the lost wages from not being able to work at CS. The monthly allowance will be for normal living expenses and he will also have whatever funds he needs available to continue to cover his ongoing medical expenses.
The donations received from this campaign will be transferred from GFM into my bank account. I will then transfer the funds to my Mexican bank account and then directly into Juan Carlos' bank account. This is the exact same process I used for the employee COVID-19 campaigns and over $90,000 was successfully distributed. Once he has received enough to over his current (and past) medical expenses, an account will be set up for the remainder of the money. He estimates that he is experiencing approximately $300 a month in lost wages. The account will be used to cover his normal living expenses as well as his ongoing medical expenses that are expected to last indefinitely.
Any contribution you can make is greatly appreciated. No amount is too small.
