Joy Martin passed away at the age of 49 on Thursday, April 23, 2020 after a two year battle with cancer. The same battle her mother fought and would eventually succumb to. Joy lived her life knowing this was a battle she would likely face. Knowing her time on this earth may be limited, she was purposeful to enjoy every day and experience as much as she possibly could with her husband Stephen, and children, Noah (18) and Abby (16).
She was a devoted wife, mother and friend who put her faith in God.
Above all else, Joy taught Noah and Abby to have a strong faith and stressed the importance of their education. Noah will attend Lenoir-Rhyne University this fall. He plans to major in History and become an educator after graduation. Abby also plans to attend college when she graduates in two years.
We ask that you give generously to support Joy's family. During her two year battle, they incurred countless medical expenses in addition to loss of work due to appointments and hospitalizations. Her wish is that her children do not bear the burden of educational expenses. While she and Stephen did save what they could, medical bills and now a one income family are limiting factors for the future.
