Two (2) swimmers from Aquamarine Ripples Swim Club, which is a young local swimming club based in Kingston, have qualified to join the Jamaica’s National Swim team to attend The Central American and Caribbean Amateur Swimming Confederation (CCCAN) from June 23-27, 2021.
The swimmers are Waldon McIntosh (12 years old) and Zayvia Cameron (12 years old).
Currently, the Government of Jamaica will not be sponsoring the swimmers to attend the Championships and the ASAJ is in no position to assist the swimmers financially and thus, your contribution is needed to ensure that these young, committed and arduous Jamaicans represent their country.
The targeted amount is aimed at offsetting the travel, accommodation and other costs for the swimmers for the period of the competition.
Waldon McIntosh has earned several accolades in swimming, chief among these were:
- Silver in the 100m breaststroke and bronze in the 50m breaststroke in the boys 9 – 10 age group at the 2019 Goodwill Swim Meet.
- Member of the boys 9 -10 relay team that won silver in both the 400m medley and 400m freestyle and bronze in the 200m freestyle
at the 2019 Goodwill Swim Meet.
- Member of the Boys’ 9-10 relay team that won bronze at the 2018 Goodwill Swim Meet in Barbados in August 2018.
- Winning the High Points trophy in Boys’ 9-10 age group category at ASAJ Prep/Primary Swim Meet in 2018 & 2019.
