Medical Bills for José Feliciano's Stroke

My dad, also a grandfather and great grandfather, José Feliciano Pereira who is 88 years of age, had a stroke last Wednesday, April 12th, and the doctors called our family telling us to say our goodbyes.

Miraculously, he is still here, but the stroke resulted in a paralysis of the right side, and loss of speech.

My father is a fighter and although he is alive and stable, he is on a journey to recovery. He is currently being fed through a nasal feeding tube and has very limited mobility.

The doctors are ready to send him home from the hospital, but he now needs 24 hour care, and we will have to transfer him to a care home in another state by ambulance where he will have specialists (neurologist, physical therapist, nutritionist, speech therapist, etc.) taking care of him so that he can relearn how to walk, talk, eat, and do other daily functions.

Up until the stroke, he was very active and still rode his motorcycle, worked on his land and produce, and was a happy person always creating new things. He has tried getting off his hospital bed many times, and shows great determination to eat liquid food, move both legs, and stand up on his own.

I hope you can make a contribution and help my family and I provide the care that my dad needs during such a difficult time. Your generosity will allow us to pay for his transportation by ambulance (from Três Lagoas, MS, Brazil to his daughter's city of residence, Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil) and the care home where he will begin his recovery which is expected to last up to 6 months.

The hospital is keeping him until tomorrow for us to gather the funds for the ambulance and for the 24 hour care home.
