DACA Renewal
Donation protected
Hello,
I’m currently in a very complicated situation, I’m a DACA recipient, for those who don’t know what it is, it’s a temporary immigration status which allows you to work legally and give you a temporary status here. I’ve had daca for about 8 years. I was brought over from abroad when I was 6 and have lived here.
With DACA you have to renew every two years and apply for a new work permit and pay a fee of $495 plus a lawyer fee.
Recently life has presented its share of challenges; I battle PTSD from childhood trauma, and have been fighting depression and other anxiety issues. In addition, unfortunately within the last couple years my life did a 360 spin, I was the victim of a felony assault with a deadly weapon. Suddenly, I lost my job in the mist of this. (Currently with an electricity bill overdue and , last month’s rent still owed…)A visible scar on my forehead stands testament to my resilience, resulting from the past physical assault.
With all this turmoil it has been completely difficult to cover my bills and have been barely making it by and now my work permit has expired I’m not sure how I will survive. Embarrassingly for me, I’m unable to pay the renewal fee, which is only adding more anxiety and stress. By not renewing it can ultimately lead to a deportation to a country I have never stepped foot in.
Even after all of this, I believe in the power of laughter and its ability to bring joy even in the face of adversity. I understand firsthand how crucial it is to find moments of happiness, and my goal is to provide a brief respite through humor. I plan in starting my own social media channel to help sustain myself.
Beyond covering DACA Renewal Fees - Your support will not only help me acquire the necessary tools like a computer and microphone for my video blogging career that I plan to begin so that I can also help others find humor in life and by helping out with immigration news. I also will use these funds to assist with daily expenses like rent, internet, groceries, and gas.
By contributing, you're not just helping me; you're investing in a community centered around joy and resilience. Together, let's turn pain into power and create a space where humor becomes a source of healing. I'm passionate about helping people find joy in their lives, one funny video at a time. Thank you for being a part of this journey!
