Finding Peace of Mind Walk 2026, for Mental Health
On 1 January 2026, I’ll set off from the Shetland Islands on a ten-month, 4,200km walk through Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland, finishing in Galway in October 2026.
This journey is a living symbol of mental health — starting in the darkness of winter and moving, step by step, toward brighter days.
Along the way, I’ll stop in towns and cities to give talks in workplaces, schools, and community groups, sharing my own 50-plus years of lived experience of mental health, recovery, and neurodiversity.
Mental health matters to all of us. I’m walking to raise awareness and funds for four incredible charities that provide vital mental-health support across the UK and Ireland:
- SAMH (Scotland)
- Mind (England & Wales)
- Aware NI (Northern Ireland)
- Aware (Ireland)
All donations will go into one fund, which I’ll withdraw at the end of the campaign and split equally between the four charities.
Your support means a great deal. Every donation — large or small — helps raise awareness and directly supports people who are struggling right now.
In addition, I’ve set myself a few personal goals along the way — to keep myself focused and to encourage others to open up about mental wellbeing:
- 30 Talks — at charities, organisations, schools, and companies
- 30 Photographs — moments of mindfulness captured along the way
- 30 Weekly blogs or vlogs — reflections on the journey itself
My hope is to exceed these goals, even if only by a little.
Thank you for supporting this walk — and for helping to keep the conversation on mental health alive and moving forward.
All the best,
Jonathan
