A few days ago, I read a news article that took my breath away and left me with a gut wrenching feeling. That article said that an “aggressive driver” lost her life. That driver was my best friend, Jona Wright. Also in the car were her 6 and 10 year old sons. They left the scene of the accident with minor injuries - some scrapes and bruises.

Jona was an amazing person. Someone I was lucky enough to meet in high school. Someone I saw become a great mother, not once, but twice. Someone that did whatever she could to make sure her children were happy and taken care of - they were her absolute pride and joy. They loved having Nerf wars together,visiting the Renaissance Fair, and days at the beach. She loved being active with them and making memories. The three of them were inseparable.

It’s hard to read these articles that paint her to be a horrible person when she wasn’t. She didn’t deserve to be spoken of like that. I don’t know what really happened on the road that day, but I know that my best friend is no longer here. I know that her boys have lost their mother. I know that her parents lost their child.

The boys are staying with their grandparents. Thankfully, they have been very present in their lives so the boys are comfortable with them. However, this is a large unexpected expense on their part.

We are hoping to collect donations for the grandparents to use for the boys’ living expenses and other needs. The grandparents (Jillene & Terry Butler) will withdraw the donations and use as they deem fit for their necessities.

It’s hard to imagine how these boys must be feeling and hard to imagine how her parents feel after having lost their daughter. If you are unable to contribute a monetary donation, please consider sharing our campaign.
