Hi, my name is John Byrd, and I never imagined I’d find myself here—reaching out to friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers for help. But life has thrown me a curveball, and I could really use your help and support. I am hoping to raise around $7500 to help get me through 2 surgeries and three months recovery. My Story

I’m a proud dad to my wonderful daughter, Lily, who I host every other weekend. Being her dad is the best part of my life.

In 2021, I had double hip replacement surgery, which ended my career as a key technician—just as the pandemic was turning the world upside down. Since then, I’ve made a living as a DoorDash driver, working hard to stay afloat.

But recently, I was diagnosed with severe Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy (CSM), level 5. It’s a condition that causes nerve compression in my spinal cord. The pain has been unbearable. After months of struggling, I finally got a CAT scan and an MRI. My doctor called immediately, quite concerned, and told me that surgery is my only option. Six to seven replacement discs with plates and bolts on the side. It’s at least a two part surgery- scheduled for this March 12th and 14th

Why I Need Help

My doctors have made it clear: Driving is dangerous right now due to the brittle condition of my neck. It’s been so hard just to drive without the surgery. So, I can’t work for at least three months after the surgery and she wants me to stop working right away to prepare for the surgery before I hurt myself by accident. It doesn’t ever stop Hurting and I can’t stop working.

The surgeries are pretty severe and very invasive to say the least. One will be through the front (throat) and then the second accessing the spinal cord from the rear. Hopefully, with a short recovery period between the two. Thankfully, my mom will be coming to help me through the surgery and for a couple of weeks afterward.

The whole process is overwhelming and stressful. Any help is greatly appreciated!
