YOUR HELP IS DESPERATELY NEEDED! TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE...
I have known Hugh for many, many years. Some may know him by the name Johnny Genocide: singer and guitarist for one of Punk's premier, groundbreaking bands, No Alternative. Hugh is incredibly intelligent, a brilliant musician, a writer, a teacher. He is not one to ask for help, so I am asking for help on his behalf.
Several years ago, Hugh was at work when an explosion in the unit directly below his jobsite and caused by a huge cache of illegally stored fireworks, occurred. He was injured severely and it took many, many months of hospital stays and physical therapy before he was able to walk again (most of the time with the use of a cane). Not long after (literally) getting back on his feet, he was struck with cancer. After several rounds of chemo and radiation, his doctors gave him a clean bill of health. Then, a few months ago he began having issues with his jaw. Due to the many radiation treatments during his battle with cancer, the bone is deteriorating at a rapid pace; at this point, speaking is difficult if not impossible for him. Doctors told him that he would need to have surgery to rebuild it. His insurance will not cover the cost of the surgery and he has been told this will be in excess of $50,000.00. All of these health issues have devastated him financially. To add to all of this, the week of February 1st 2016 he was hospitalized near death because of infection in the bones of his face. He was treated with antibiotics and was just released. Doctors say that he must have the surgery to save his life. Time is of the essence.
Through all of this his lovely wife has stood by his side.
Hugh is a chess coach, teaching the game to children in ten different schools in San Francisco. He has recently completed an advanced degree in Madarin and teaches English as a second language. He is studying for an advanced degree in math. He is not the type to give up easily, not the type to do something without giving it his all. Sometimes though, people just need some help.
Please donate to help him get the immediate care he so greatly needs. Your donations will be appreciated more than you can know - he needs this surgery so that he can continue his work and live a long wonderful life after so much tragedy.
