Johnny’s Journey

Johnny Ducote and Angel Jenkins searched most of their lives for true love and the perfect soul mate. Johnny found his "princess"and Angel found her "prince charming" and they had their fairy tale wedding March 29th, 2014.

Their fairy tale life didn't  last long.  In December 2014, Johnny became sick with what he thought was just some stomach issues.  He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer!  The tumor is located on the outside of the pancreas and wrapping around the blood vessel which eliminates the possibility for surgery unless the tumor would shrink.

Since then, the journey has been a traumatic one.  Those of you who have been touched by cancer understand this journey. Johnny went to MD Anderson in Houston, TX immediately for treatment.  It has now been one year and four months.  Johnny has gone through 27 rounds of chemotherapy and 3 months of radiation. The tumor did not shrink but remained stable not spreading until December 2015.  There is now a spot on the liver and the adrenal gland.

Chemotherapy has had a terrible effect on Johnny's body.  The nausea it created has prevented him from eating and caused much weight loss. The doctor stopped chemotherapy in April because his body couldn't handle anymore. Johnny is now so weak
he is unable to care for himself.  He was in the hospital several weeks ago with pneumonia  and a blood clot in the lung.  It is necessary to have sitters with him now so that Angel can work.

I wish the above story belonged to someone else, but it is my story and my dear husband battling this terrible disease.  We are asking... if God lays it on your heart... to PLEASE consider giving something, anything to assist us financially as my husband continues to fight this cancer.  We have many friends, family and a loving church family who pray for us which gives us the strength to carry on. God has been so good to us.

My prayer, as Johnny's wife, is to spend as much time with him as I can as he travels this difficult journey. However,  I am the only one working, he hasn't been able to work (Johnny is a school teacher) in over a year. Along with the many medical bills, I have a son in college and a son in high school which makes our financial situation even greater.  With the added expense of having a sitter now to care for him when I am at work, our financial stress is
greater.  We thank you for any financial assistance you can provide; and also ask you to put our family on your prayer list.  May God bless you!
