John DeVries' comeback!
Donation protected
On April 24th, my sister’s husband, John DeVries, was riding his bicycle on a solo bikepacking trip home to Nelson, British Columbia from Las Vegas, Nevada when he was struck by a semi-truck on the highway. The truck was traveling under cruise control at highway speed and on an open and congestion-free road. He hit John with the front right side of the semi-truck hood, causing multiple facial fractures, broken teeth, left sprained ankle, road rash, and all his ribs were broken on the left side in both the back and the front which also caused a punctured lung. He was airlifted 150 miles to the Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nevada where they put in a chest tube and have been excellent care of him since the accident and until he can be transported to the Kelowna hospital in BC (about a five-hour drive from home) where he will stay until he is released to go home. Thankfully, John had some emergency travel insurance, but they will need some help with Stacy’s accommodations/food while she’s with him, travel home, getting their car home from Spokane, and John’s dental work when he gets home. If more is raised than they need, the extra will go towards their Get Schooled project (www.get-schooled.org) for the children of Uganda. It will encourage John’s comeback to get back on the bike! Thank you for your support and encouragement. I know it means a lot to them.
