For funeral and other unexpected expenses
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Stephanie, I am John’s sister-in-law.
I am reaching out to let you know that we are fundraising to assist with the unexpected expenses for the passing of our brother, John Velez, as he road his bike and was struck by a truck and killed on the morning of August 17th. As you probably already know this cause is very important to me and my family. The very last thing John would want is for his family to be burdened with expenses while mourning his loss. If you are unfamiliar with John and the imprint he has made on his family and friends, I have written a brief story of him. But then again, there are not enough words to describe just how important he was.
John was born on July 4, 1986 to his wonderful parents, Roy and Linda Velez. He was a beautiful baby and toddler with not only a head full of hair but very headstrong. While he often tested his independence he also stayed close by to his older brother Stephen.
John never had it easy and learned from a very young age what hard work and determination were. John was tested time and time again from challenges he faced in school but also on a personal level. John never gave up on trying to become a better person. He consistently read self help book and listening to ted talks. Day in and day out John never stopped and always wanted to do more.
John was nothing short of a Superman. He had so much love and always had more to give. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. He would drop everything to help a friend or his family. John was also very competitive and never let food go to waste. He was funny and empathetic. Above all, John was so very loved and meant the world to many.
John, although you may not have realized, you left behind a legacy that will be hard to beat. You were so loved and meant so much to those around you. Your memory and legacy will be known and talked about for years.
If you are able, any donations would be greatly appreciated for funeral and other expenses. We are very grateful for every donation during this incredibly difficult time.
With our love
The Velez Family
PS If you have any stories you’d like too share please do so. We want any and all memories of him.
