John M. Duarte, a man like many, has led an honorable life. As a Pratt & Whitney family member we come together to help when help is needed. John is beginning his battle with cancer.
John grew up in San Jose California. He has 4 brothers and 4 sisters. He joined the Air Force while in Silver Creek high school, going into active duty March 1979. He served in the Philippines as an engine mechanic from 1982-1986.
30 years ago he came to Pratt & Whitney working jet engines and Rockets. He was a stand operator for test, a lead man for rockets and a military/commercial engine mechanic.
Today he is lead man of our engine mechanics. He mentors with dignity, honor and respect.
For a time he worked for AEDC – Arnold Engineering Development Center in Tennessee.
It was here where he met his wife Sandra. John and Sandra spent 19 wonderful years together. Sandra was his best friend always by his side, both loved doing everything together. Unfortunately Sandra also fought her own battle with cancer for some time, and like a true husband John never left her side. Sadly she lost her battle a year and half ago.
John and his family have been through so much and could use our help more than ever. John is not the person to ask for help so were taking it upon ourselves, the Pratt & Whitney Family to help our brother.
So let’s show John with the same dignity, honor and respect that we are here to help and support him.
Thank you all for your prayers and your help.
