Mountain Bike Racer Needs Help
Donation protected
I had the pleasure of meeting a very nice young man, Joel Ramirez a few years ago when I was in the Cabo area of Mexico through my friend Warren Gibson. Warren has been a Olympic caliber coach for over 40 years and he has been Joel's coach for 5 years. Since most of my friends are in the cycling world, I ask you to please read Joel's story below and contribute to this young man's success. Joel desperately needs financial help in order to compete at the World Championships in Switzerland in September of 2018.
Joel is well known in the Los Cabos, Baja California Sur competitive cycling world as well as in all of Mexico. His cycling future is very bright. He is currently Ranked Nationally by Federación Mexicana de Ciclismo. (FMC) as the number 4 mountain bike cross country racer in the Sub23 Category in Mexico, 15 points behind the number 3 Ranked rider and that is simply due to broken chain in the 6th National Cup Race that took 6 minutes to repair, but that’s racing, however on January 1, 2019 he will be the number 2 Ranked Sub23 in México as the current 1st and 2nd Rank Sub23 Category racers will be 23 years old and will racing in the 23 year old and up Category next year. He is now Ranked Nationally as the number ONE 18 year old in México!!! He is youngest 18 year old FMC Ranked cyclist in Mexico. He also is the number ONE Ranked Sub23 in the state of Baja California Sur as well as in the Los Cabos Municipality. Joel is not only determined to become the best he can be, but he is good person with an Increíble attitude!!!!
Warren has been coaching Joel full time on a voluntary basis for the last 5 years. The first year they were together he won 11 races in a row all by 5 minutes or more. Joel comes from an extremely poor family, that has no money for sports. Both parents are alcoholics and spend all their spare money from their paychecks on alcohol and periodically his father severely man handles his mother. Unhealthy diet of Kellogg’s Froot Loops, cookies, chips, Coca-Cola and some delicious tasting but very greasy Mexican food. In December when he turned 18, Warren decided due to these unfavorable household living conditions that he would provided Joel with complementary housing with an appropriate diet for a cyclist. This allows Joel to positively focus on both his mountain bike racing and his online high school program. He is a very disciplined student and does his school work daily and gets excellent grades. This young man is not only a phenomenal athlete, he is incredibly smart which enhances his opportunity to be a successful MTB XC Racer!!! His National and International race schedule for the last two years has been financially supported by Arturo De La Rosa the Mayor Of The Los Cabos Municipality. But unfortunately on July 1, 2018, Arturo lost his re-election bid and currently Joel is unable received any additional funding from the Municipality.

Both, former World Champion Don Myrah and American George Hincapie, one of the most successful former professional in cycling, have each ridden and trained with Joel and have both stated Joel is very talented and unquestionably he looks like a future professional. Warren worked closely with 3 time Tour de France WINNER and 3 time World Road Racing CHAMPION GREG LEMOND for 15 years. He also worked with Don Myrah World NORBA Mountain Bike Champion. JOEL RAMÍREZ truly has all of the needed characteristics and the riding skills needed to become a World Class Professional Mountain Bike Cross Counry Racer as well as a future Olympian!!!!!!!
Joel has twenty product ONLY sponsors for 2018. These companies provide the products that Joel needs in order to compete succesfully through out the year, but they do not provide any financial support at this point in his career. But at this time Joel has more product only sponsors than most young MTB professionals!

My friend Warren is 74 years young and he plans to see Joel in the Olympics in the near future and World Cup MTB XCO Races are the stepping-stones.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration it is greatly appreciated!!
