Joe Copley’s Heart Transplant Fund

Last year Joe had a massive heart attack. He was shocked 27 times & flatlined 3 times, but the doctors brought him back to us. He now has stents in his heart and a defibrillator/pacemaker implanted in him.  He has less than 20% of heart function left. Life has not been the same since Mothers Day 2018 when the heart attack first occurred. Shortly after, my dream job had financial problems and moved to Singapore. I’ve been looking for steady work since, with no avail. Last week we received a phone call from the doctor asking that we come in immediately. When we got there we were told that in addition to the heart failure, Joe now has Stage 3 kidney failure.  When we go to the doctor now, he always gets the same response, no matter the complaint “You’re on borrowed time” or “you are just lucky to be alive”. 

To to add insult to injury, after renting our house for 4+ years, we received a notice in the mail to move. We have 30 days. I guess that’s what happens when you don’t renew your lease and are on month to month. 

So here we are, with 2 kids (7&9), a very ill parent, jobless, and needing to move.  As much as we would love to stay in this area, it looks like moving out of state would be a good idea. We think that moving to an area with better doctors & hospitals and being able to surround Joe with his family and friends will help improve his spirts and hopefully his diagnosis, even though we have been told he is on borrowed time.
