We just found out that I was a 100% match for a bone marrow transplant for my sister, Joann Soriano Rodriguez. She had gone into the hospital on December 11, 2012, originally for pain in her appendix. However, 10 days later, she was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, which is a disease in which the bone marrow makes too many white blood cells. When she first mentioned her diagnosis, I couldn't believe it and never thought I would have a family member experiencing this. It's been hard to see her go through everything, but for all of you who know my sister, you know that she is tough! She has fought through every part of this process thus far and has stayed as strong as she could every step of the way. When we found out that I was a 100% match, we knew that we had been blessed and are so grateful that we are going to be able to go through with a transplant for her. However, it is going to be a really tough process for my sister and her husband, physically, mentally, and most especially, financially because they are going to have to take leaves of absence from work and relocate to Northern California to be closer to her specialists, for quite some time. I know that we have always been surrounded by the most gracious families and friends, and I would like to kindly ask you for any donations. We greatly appreciate any amount that you can give. May God bless you always!
