The first moment Brandon set eyes on Jimmy, he knew that he would care for him until the end. Brandon has gone through many life experiences with Jimmy since rescuing him almost 8 years ago. He was his friend and roommate when he lived away from his home state for the first time. He was his travel companion when he would drive the long trip from Colorado to Oklahoma. He snuggled and healed Brandon emotionally after his brain surgery. Giving him the constant love he needed during such a difficult time. Jimmy is not just a dog. He is our friend, our family.

Last Sunday (November 15th) we packed up the car with the dogs and headed to Green Mountain for an afternoon hike. With the weather getting cooler we wanted to take the dogs to their favorite spot by where we used to live. As we pulled into our old neighborhood, both dogs started getting antsy with excitement. With a smile on my face, Brandon and I started walking the beautiful trails we were so familiar with, when out of nowhere we spotted a huge deer skirting up the side of the mountain we were climbing. Jimmy perked his ears up in glee. He loves animals and being outdoors. As he attempted to chase up the mountain, he landed wrong and was immediately unable to use his left hind leg.

Brandon picked up his loving and trusting pet and carried him down the mountain. We waited two days before making an appointment at the Golden Animal Hospital. When we arrived at the vet's office Thursday, November 19th, we were distraught with the possibility of Jimmy needing surgery and us not having the financial capabilities to provide for him. The vet confirmed our fears- Jimmy had torn his ACL. Without surgery he will never use his back leg. Never bound up a mountain with his little pug friend. Never run along side Brandon again on his jogs. The vet also told us that without the surgery he would be in life long pain from arthritis. We do not want this for him. We want him to continue to live the athletic and healthy life he craves. As a middle aged dog, Jimmy still has half a lifetime of mountains and squirrels to chase.

I am creating this Gofundme to help pay for the expenses of Jimmy's surgery. We have scheduled a consultation appointment with VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital for November 29th- the soonest they could get us in. They have quoted us the amount of $3200- $3800.
