Jim Dietz. Help his kiddos. Celebrate his life.

On Monday, March 7, 2022, in the midst of his morning routine of sipping coffee, watching obscure videos on one monitor, and talking back to the world news on the other, Jim Dietz suffered a massive heart attack.

Although the self-proclaimed “last of a race of intergalactic curmudgeons”, Jim fiercely and unabashedly loved many things, people, and places throughout the many lives he lived. Chief among these, however, were his children, Violetta and Jack. If you are so moved to make a donation toward their future, please do so here.

We are all reeling, and many details are yet to be determined, but in consideration of the kiddos, and especially for Violetta, whose birthday is this weekend, there will not be a traditional funeral viewing.

On a spring date to be determined, we will inter Jim’s ashes at Penn Forest Cemetery in Verona, PA and celebrate a life well-lived and well-loved with good friends, good music, good beer, and what sure as hell better be good food.

Melanie has asked us to thank you all for reaching out over the last few days, and for continuing to reach out. She is reading texts and emails as she is able, but she has not found the energy to answer calls just yet.

Shortly, we will put up a permanent memorial site for Jim that will allow friends to share comments, photos, and even videos to preserve that booming voice and link to the many podcasts he was part of. Please consider uploading your Facebook messages there as well.
