UPDATE:
We are absolutely blown away by the support for Jett! Thanks to all of you, we reached our goal in less than 24 hours! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for showing up so quickly and so generously for this sweet boy.
A special thank you to George Knott for featuring Jett as a fundraiser of the day and helping us reach so many more people, and to Sheila Lebowitz for her incredibly generous donation in honor of her beloved greyhound, Zamora.
With all of this momentum, we’d like to continue fundraising beyond our initial goal. These additional funds will be used to help pay it forward and provide support for other dogs who may find themselves facing a difficult diagnosis (note: cases will be reviewed on a medical diagnosis basis).
Jett is fighting hard, and thanks to you, he has the chance he deserves. We’ll continue to share updates along the way, and we’re so grateful to have this community behind him every step of the journey.

Jett's Story:
At just under two years old, Jett should be spending his days doing what greyhounds do best, running hard, napping harder, and bringing endless joy to everyone around him. Instead, he’s now facing the fight of his life after being diagnosed with Blastomycosis, a serious and potentially fatal fungal infection.
Blastomycosis is caused by a fungus found in soil, particularly in areas near water. Dogs can inhale the spores, which then settle in the lungs and can spread to other parts of the body, including the eyes, skin, and bones. Early symptoms can be easy to miss, but without treatment, the disease can quickly become life-threatening.
While the good news is that blastomycosis can be treatable, the reality is that treatment is intensive, costly, and isn't always successful.
Jett has already been through more than most dogs ever should: he was relinquished to Midwest Greyhound Adoption (MGA) by his first family after they were unable to care for him. Jett found comfort and stability in a long-term foster home, but his world was turned upside down when his foster mom unexpectedly passed away in 2025 and he returned to MGA once again. After being adopted in January, Jett was once again relinquished to MGA following his Blastomycosis diagnosis.
Jett will require months of powerful antifungal medication (likely 6–12 months), along with frequent veterinary visits, bloodwork, and monitoring to track his progress and protect his organs. In some cases, additional supportive care or hospitalization is needed. The total cost of treatment can range from $3,000 to $8,000+, depending on how he responds.
Jett has already proven how resilient he is. Now he just needs a community to stand behind him as he fights this next battle. With the right care, he has a real chance to overcome this and get back to doing what he does best, bringing joy, laughter, and a little bit of greyhound mischief into the world.
With your help, we can give him the chance to recover, find his forever home, and finally get the happy ending he’s been waiting for.
Your donation will go directly toward:
- Lifesaving antifungal medications
- Ongoing veterinary care and diagnostic testing
- Supportive treatments to help Jett recover
If you’re unable to donate, sharing Jett’s story can make a meaningful difference.
We will update this page with information on Jett's progress. Thank you for being part of Jett’s journey .
