Update - October 2024
Jesse fought a good fight and was unable to continue his valiant battle. We are reopening this fundraising to help his son Carter with expenses he will face in the future. Thank you all for your support.
In January of 2021, Jesse was admitted to the hospital for what we thought was a diverticulitis flare up. After a few scans, a few blood transfusions, and a biopsy, it was finally revealed that Jesse had Stage 3 Adenocarcinoma of the Esophagus. Jesse has been receiving chemo weekly, and daily radiation treatments. He will soon have a feeding tube placed as he cannot eat much nor is he able to maintain his weight due to the size of the tumor. Once the tube is placed, he will be able to give himself direct nourishment as well as continue to eat soft foods. The future plan is to have further scans once the radiation treatment is complete, then do surgery to remove the tumor.
Jesse continues to solely care for his son, Carter (12), with the help of Jesse's mom. Jesse has insurance but the bills are stacking up due to lack of income (short term disability does not pay much), and the need for rent/utilities to be paid, as well as medical bills. Jesse owns Wild Thyme Custom Catering as his side job, and due to the intense treatment, he has not been able to take on any catering jobs. If you've ever had any of Jesse's delicious food, then you know he is missed in the community due to this battle. Those of us who know Jesse know he would do anything to help any one of us, and in many cases he has already.
The funds will be used to pay bills, and to help with unexpected things that seem to keep coming. If there is extra, I would like to set up a trust/scholarship for Carter for down the road. We all appreciate your willingness to help Jesse. We will post updates as they come.
