UPDATE: Jem has passed away today 06-05-2021. We are accepting donations for medical bills and funeral expenses.
My name is Heather and We are raising money to help pay medical expenses accrued during hospital stays for a terminal cancer illness and treatment for our family memeber. Jem was diagnosed with an extremely aggressive stage of HCC of the liver. His condition dramatically took a turn for the worse and is now on hospice. Jem is the light to our family we have shared so much over the years. Jem is a recently married husband(three years to his wife Keisha Ropp), brother, son, amazing uncle and a friend to many. He is the light in everyone's eyes and true hobbiest. His artistic ways has blessed many people. His love for humanity and animals of all sorts are just a few great traits he has shared with all his loved ones. He is a hard worker and loving individual who is always willing to help those around him. He never meets a stranger and a once in a life time person. At the young age of 33 and 6 months shy of 34 he has accomplished so much and yet so little. We ask if you have in your hearts to please help him and his family to provide relief in the medical expenses. Any donation is never too little. We thank everyone who can help. The Doctors say at his stage there is not a cure or treatment. We have not given up hope or our faith in the lords plans. We love him dearly. It's with heavy hearts that we ask for help which is never easy but you can't get help unless you ask. Let's work together during this difficult time to help a man who has helped so many others. Let's return the favor. If you ever had the pleasure to meet him you would know that you don't come by many people with such love, grace and a kind soul. Like I said he is a one in a life time person. Thanks to all in advance for your help. If you cannot donate please share to reach as many generous and kind people as possible. We don't know how much time we have left but if we surpass the medical expenses with donations the rest will be used for any funeral expenses and to help the family with any other debts that he may leave behind.
Here is a little about HCC also known as hepatocellular carcinoma.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a rare aggressive malignancy with fewer than 200,000 US cases per year resulting as the third cause of death by cancer each year. The management of patients with HCC is complex, as both the tumour stage and any underlying liver disease must be considered conjointly.
Unfortunately, HCC is typically diagnosed late in its course, with a median survival following diagnosis of approximately 6 to 20 months. In the United States, 2 years survival is less than 50% and 5-year survival is only 10%.
At this point Jem has reached Stage 4 also known as End stage HCC. There is no cure and our time with such a wonderful soul is growing shorter and shorter as his mobile abilities, sound and mind slip slowly away. Please keep him in your thoughts during this difficult time as we are preparing for the worst outcome of him leaving us. We pray he find comfort in out lords hands when that time comes in the mean time we are doing everything we can to comfort him and care for him.
