Rebuild and reunite

I'm not generally one to ask for help but quite frankly I need it. My drug addiction nearly destroyed me. It's taken several attempts at quitting, finding rock bottom, and finally really deciding to give up  the insanity that is meth to get to this point. I've been working on rebuilding my life and have almost two months clean.  I'm currently in a homeless shelter and recovering from a fairly recent diagnosis of  HIV and MRSA after being hospitalized for nearly a month.  I'm making great progress and even I'm amazed at how easy its been to stop using and stay clean once the decision is really made.

Rehab  scenarios that were available to me on the tax payer's  back are incredibly hard to get into and seem to have a very low success rate. most require a 12-18 month commitment and don't allow for work, family life, or a dog.  I've spent the majority of the last year sober and have discovered that me working on my addiction with a one on one outpatient counseling mixed with smart recovery, and 12 step meetings works the best for me.  I do have a little financial help and luckily know how to make sacrifices, this will continue to come in handy as I'm getting back on my feet. I refuse to get caught up in the disability or SSI lifestyle as I want nothing more than to continue on the path to self reliance.  I'm doing more and making it better with personal responsibility and accountability.

I realize now that I probably could have avoided a relapse had I been equipped with more support, the tools, and help I now accept and understand I need.  I put a fiscal number on this goal as this amount will solve my immediate goal of securing my belongings, getting some money into savings so I can qualify for sober/transitional  living programs and join the rest of the real world with a cell phone and service that actually works well.   If I budgeted right reaching this goal will also give me a little bit extra for doctor, prescription, and counseling copays et cetera.

The sooner I get get back on my feet, the sooner I can reunite with my dog and get on with my life. Support doesn't have to come in the form of money, I take hugs, sober housing that allows the cutest dog ever, gift cards (yoga, coffee,  apple photo storage credit(keeps my photography work safe), anything that makes life a little easier) I'm now working at an awesome thrift store and they help me out alongside the other homeless folks around me with very lost cost and even sometimes free clothing, food,  and needed supplies..  I'm required to save the majority of what I make (80% goes into savings) so that I can have necessary money for the next step of my journey.  The more I have in this bank the more quality options I'll have for the next step.

There re is a saying in recovery, sometimes fast and sometimes slow, that's exactly my need of help. Some help now with money, yoga now that I'm cleared to go, and hugs would be awesome. The slower would be more of the same plus anything helpful with housing, work, and keeping on track. Hugs followed by lots of acceptance and understanding. If you feel like helping those that are helping me please do, PATH, Urban Angels, and Auntie Helen's have all been very good to me.

All help will be much appreciated, I will certainly use anything extra to help others around me, or get my butt into the dentist's chair, and just in general get on with my life. If for some reason you don't know me or don't realize that I keep fairly active on Facebook and Instagram, I share a lot about my life in both those places and am always down for new friends or reuniting with those from my past. I will share  more of my backstory here as things progress and I will keep you posted here as well of how life is coming along. Please feel free to share this and my info with whomever you like. Don't be afraid to ask me questions or ask me for any kind of help if you or someone you love has a similar problem. Im happy to discuss things privately or out in the open. Thank you in advance for your support.
