We thank you and we thank God with full and grateful hearts.
This journey has not been easy. As a young girl who lost her mother to breast cancer at the tender age of 7, it made her into someone with strength that can only come from God. She would be faced with her own diagnosis of Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia at the age of 12, again when she was pregnant with her daughter Melaika at the age of 20, and again at 22. She finally had a stem cell transplant at MD Anderson in 2006.
From working at 15 to earning her Master’s degree in Public Health, her life has been a living testimony of perseverance, faith and divine purpose. Dedicating her life to helping others along with being an independent single mother. She is truly half human, half miracle and a walking reflection of God’s favor and resilience.
This most recent tongue cancer diagnosis was aggressive and sudden, a long term side effect of the stem cell transplant.
Through grueling treatments, endless hospital visits and moments of deep uncertainty, she has been lifted by the joy and love of her beautiful daughter, who stands by her with radiant strength and tenderness. The prayers, kind words and quiet support from nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. All of you have been powerful beyond measure.
Your prayers were felt. Your generosity was a blessing and most importantly your faith joined ours in lifting her up.
We know that healing comes from God, but we also know He works through people. He worked through each of you.
On behalf of our entire family we THANK YOU SO MUCH for believing in her, for standing beside her and for showing us all what community, compassion and true support really look like.
To God be the glory!
With endless gratitude and love,
The Myrick Family
