Jaxon’s mini adventures

Story

At Kelso Fire Station, we stand shoulder to shoulder through every challenge—on the job and beyond. Today, we’re rallying behind one of our own, a dedicated firefighter whose young son is facing a devastating diagnosis. This is a call to our local community and wider emergency services family. We know the strength of our bond, the power of unity, and the difference we can make when we come together. Please join us in supporting this family through the unimaginable. Your donation, no matter the size, is a gesture of solidarity and will help them make lasting memories with the time they have left together. Read Jaxon's story below. In April 2024, 3-year-old Jaxon was diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive cancer called MRT (Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor). He began intensive treatment at Edinburgh Sick Kids Hospital — 12 rounds of chemotherapy — and despite everything, he stayed joyful, cheeky, and full of life, quickly becoming a favorite on the ward. Over the summer, he spent time in ICU, but true to form, Jaxon fought back stronger than ever. In September, he travelled to Manchester for 7 weeks of proton beam therapy — 28 sessions under general anesthesia — while continuing chemo. He amazed everyone once again with his strength and spirit. After a tough final stretch, he made it home just in time for Christmas. Jaxon enjoyed 6 months in remission before we got heartbreaking news: the cancer had returned and spread to his lungs. Doctors have told us time is now limited — months, not years — as the cancer is aggressive. But Jaxon is still Jaxon — full of energy, still running, laughing, and playing like nothing’s wrong. Now, we just want to give him as many adventures and happy memories as possible — to fill whatever time we have left with love, laughter, and life.
