Java to Cape Town and Back!

The Challenge

Martin & Simon have undertaken a number of exciting motorbike road trips over the years including a journey around North and West India and 14 months across Central and South America. However none are as epic and as challenging as their latest trip to Cape Town and back from Martin's home town in Portugal!

They will visit 25 countries including; Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Cameroon, Gabon, Dominican Republic of Congo, Angola, Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, Zimbawe, Mozambique, Madagascar, Tanzania, Kenya, Sudan and Egypt.

While attempting this challenge they are raising much needed funds and awareness for a local dog shelter in Portugal called Java.

About Java

Java is a non-profit organisation set up in 1999 to fight for the welfare of abandoned dogs. The association feeds and shelters them, looks after their health and carries out necessary sterilizations and vaccinations to ensure these dogs lead a happy life. There are currently over 190 dogs at Java, many of which have been mistreated, tied up or simply abandoned by their previous owners before they ended up in the shelter. The incredible team at Java work tirelessly cleaning and improving the shelter as well as looking after the tail-wagging guests and matching suitable families and owners to adopt these loving dogs to start a new life in a secure and friendly environment that they deserve.

The association relies on volunteers, local funding and donations to keep going and we are very excited to be working with Martin & Simon to raise much needed and vital funds at this challenging time.
