Meet Jason Rix, 25, loving and devoted husband, father of two beautiful children, son and brother. He loves his family, works hard, and loves sports (That's an understatement!).
In early July Jason began to have blurry vision and imbalanced walking. First diagnosed with brain cancer it was soon discovered he had two areas of cavernous malformations in his brain - areas of tiny malformed blood vessels. There is no cure for this kind of thing. While surgery is an option for some, it is not for Jason because one of the areas is on his brain stem and too dangerous. Months of therapy is the only option at this time.
These blood vessels began to bleed into his brain which caused symptoms of a major stroke. He cannot speak, has lost the use of his right hand and arm, unable to stand or walk, his left eye is completely closed and immobile and the lower right side of his face shows signs of paralysis.
He is currently at an inpatient facility for therapy at Shands Rehab Magnolia Park in Gainesville, FL, and his stay is indefinite.
Those of you who know Jason know him as a happy go lucky guy, avid sports lover and devoted family man as well as the sole bread winner for his family. He will face this challenge with determination, along with his family and friends - his wife Jennifer, his parents Jay and Debbie Rix, brother Tyler, and many more. But it will be along road to recovery.
We know there are many well deserving causes already out there. So when you read his story, if you feel compelled to help, just know you are a blessing to Jason and his family.
Thank you for taking the time to read Jason Rix's story. Let's help him rally to recovery!
