Hi everyone, my name is Rachel. I started this fundraiser for my brother Callum, and his wife Jasmine. On the evening of October 25th, Jasmine was taking a shower when she heard a loud noise. She quickly ran out of the shower to check on their toddler, to find that a fire had erupted in their kitchen (faulty wiring). With no clothes, Jasmine escaped the fire with their young daughter and the dog. Unfortunately the hamster and fish met a worse fate.

The whole family suffered this fire, Jasmine, Callum, their baby Avery, and Jasmine’s two young children, Addison and Axel. Their clothing, toys, toiletries, sentimental items.. everything was a loss.

As if things couldn’t get worse - anything that WAS salvageable was put into the basement for storage while they stay at a hotel. The fire department ordered the utilities to be cut off, and in doing so; turned off the sump pump in the basement, flooding everything and destroying what was left of their belongings.

Many of you know Callum, and you know the rough life he has had so far. His son lost his battle to cancer in 2012, and Callum struggled after the loss of his son, but sought mental health help, and leaned on family to overcome that great loss. He has been working toward a brighter future with his family for several years.

He is my big brother, and I’m so proud of how far he has come in such a short time. It seems like every time he takes a step forward, some cosmic force has other plans for him that set him back by a lifetime.
