Revive the Ride! Save the endangered Jantzen Beach Carousel.

The Jantzen Beach Carousel needs your help! Where thousands of beautiful, handcarved carousels once populated the United States, less than 200 exist today.

Over the last decade, this stunning work of craftsmanship has been in danger of meeting a similar fate– the National Neon Sign Museum has been selected to save this carousel from being a lost attraction, and the team needs your support.

In the summer of 2023, the Museum was unanimously chosen by the Restore Oregon and Oregon Historical Society’s committee to become the new stewards reviving the Jantzen Beach Carousel back to life.

With a passion for preserving history, the National Neon Sign Museum gathered a team and began the process of inquiry and submitting the required documents needed to be considered as the potential new home and restoration site for the nationally beloved 1910 historic treasure. After several months of interviews, waiting, updating, and additional meetings, we were overjoyed to hear that The National Neon Sign Museum had been selected for this extraordinary opportunity to once again, engage the community as we join the past with the present.

By donating, you will be saving a carousel once listed on Restore Oregon's list of "Most Endangered Places” from being destroyed. Funds will support many of the carousel’s most integral needs– this includes a band organ and restoration of the 82 horses.

The National Neon Sign Museum envisions seeing the carousel as a fully-operational centerpoint to our beautiful City of The Dalles by 2028, the 100 year anniversary of the carousel being in Oregon.

The Jantzen Beach Carousel will be an educational opportunity for the City of the Dalles, Oregon, and annual patronage that experience this historic (dying) artform. The National Neon Sign Museum is launching multiple classrooms and maker spaces this spring in our 'Argon Education Center' that will be used to inspire and teach our younger generations.

For as little as $10, you can help play a part in preserving the rich legacy of craftsmanship and artisans that our country was built upon.
