Jan's Stroke Recovery Treatment
Donation protected

I first want to Thank you for taking the time to hear our story- I truely appreciate every single one of you!
Your time is precious- here is a summary:
I am writing today to ask for your help. My mom, Jan Janssen had a massive stroke in November 2013 which left her paralyzed on the left side of her body. With the help of therapy (and a lot of love and support from family and friends) she has made some great progress but is still in a wheel chair and has very limited use of her left side. Recently, she was accepted into a stroke treatment program at the Institue of Neurological Recovery in Flordia. The money raised will go towards the cost of the treatment and the travel/lodging for the approximatly week long stay while recieving the treatment. If a donation is not in the budget I completely understand and thank you for taking the time to listen to our story. Please share our story with your family and friends- every ear counts!
So much love from ALL of us!

Here is the FULL Story:
Jan Janssen is my mom. She is not only my mom, she is the mother of five beautiful girls, a grandmother of two handsome young boys, and a loving wife to my dad, Jack. She is the hardest working women I know and she is my mentor, my inspiration, my daily pick-me-up, my hero, my best friend and (best of all) she is a survivor- a stroke survivor.
I am not a New York Times Best Selling author but let me tell you the story...
My Mom's story begins at about 10:00pm on Nov. 22, 2013. She had just finished the shift at her second job and decided to pick up a few groceries before heading home for the evening. My sister, Emma was with her- noticed Mom was limping, and asked if she was feeling okay. She mentioned having a terrible headache all day and shortly after that conversation the stroke occured.
With only a 20-30% chance of survival my mom headed into a two hour emergency brain surgery to remove the clot and excess blood in the brain. The surgery was a success! After being in a coma for two days, in the ICU for a little over two weeks, and in the hospital for just under three months my mom was able to come home on Feb. 14, 2014- Valentine's Day. This was a great milestone but also the start to a a variety of other challenges.
My mom is now paralyzed on the left side of her body and has some cognitive deficiencs that prevent her from working. The decrease in income and increase in medical expenses have been a huge challenge for my family and we are forever thankful to all who have already helped alleviate some of this financial struggle. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
My mom is still doing therapy daily with my sister Emma, who is her fulltime caregiver, and when we can afford it she goes to additional therapy at the hospital. Not too long ago, my mom found the stroke treatment program at the Institue of Neurological Recovery in Flordia. This specialized treatment has had some pretty amazing results.
Graciously, a friend of the family provided the money for the over-the-phone assessment and... SHE WAS ACCEPTED!! She has six months to get the treatment or she will need to be reassessed. So I am humbly asking for you help.
For you this might be just one less cup of coffee this week, but to my mom it could be a new life- or atleast a renewed hope for continued improvement. Every contribution counts and we are so grateful for every contribution! Thank you!
I echo what I said before... If contributing is not in the budget I completely understand and thank you for taking the time to listen to our story. Please share our story with your family and friends- every ear counts!
I will try to add updates as much as possible and am working on uploading some videos too, so come back and visit!
So much love and gratitude from all of us,
Hannah & the Girls
